Our lawyers are qualified advocates and solicitors with law degrees from recognized local or foreign universities. They are proficient in a variety of languages including, English, Mandarin, Malay and various Chinese dialects.

Further, we have teams of full-time and qualified administrative and support staff dedicated to the daily operations of the Firm, providing financial and office management, and human resource services.

Commercial, Corporate and Conveyancing

Ms. Ong Ai-Lyn

Head of Department

Ms Ong currently heads the firm’s Commercial, Corporate & Conveyancing Department. She began her legal career at a criminal set at Lincoln’s Inn Fields in London. She was also actively involved as a volunteer with the Free Representation Unit during her time in London. Upon her admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Sabah & Sarawak in Sarawak in 1993, she continued to be involved in various litigation matters in the areas of criminal breach of trust, fraud, handling stolen goods, automobile theft, debt recovery, banking litigation, matrimonial proceedings, probate, amongst others, gradually branching into Conveyancing and Corporate matters eventually. She was invited to spearhead the firm, Goh and Partners (as it was known then) in 1997 and key in merging with Loke King and Company in 2002 to what is known today as Loke King Goh and Partners Advocates. Since then, she has been advising on various corporate, banking, real estate transactions, land and immigration matters within the legal framework of Sarawak.

Ms Ong has an established client base of high net worth local and internationally based individuals. She has also had extensive experience acting for local and international companies across different sectors in connection with site acquisitions, disposals, investment and hotels, and various commercial and residential property projects and developments.

Apart from her corporate and commercial experience, Ms Ong is also well-versed with the local immigration laws, specifically in relation to the immigration process and naturalisation procedures, and is able to and has assisted various corporations on the immigration status in respect of their employees. She also regularly advises local and foreign individuals on wills, probate and trust matters.

Ms. Au Nyat Jun

Ms. Au joined the firm in 1988 and was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court in Sabah and Sarawak in the same year.

In her long-standing history with the firm, Ms. Au has been seen to be advising and involved in various commercial works which include commercial conveyancing, corporate banking and trust (wills and settlements). She has advised on various matters concerning guarantee and indemnities, syndicated loan and shipping financing documentations. On top of these experiences, Ms. Au has also had particular experience with joint ventures and drafting a number of service and building contracts.

Ms. Lim Swee Ling

Swee Ling was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Sabah & Sarawak in Sarawak in 2009 after spending almost a decade in the credit administration department with a leading bank in Malaysia, overseeing the credit facilities’ applications and facilities’ disbursements at branch level.

Swee Ling has extensive experience and contacts in the property and banking market in Sarawak, and has acted for a number of developers, banks and overseas clients. Her knowledge of the local property and banking laws and procedures enables her to offer commercial and practical solutions to problems as well as providing clear and strategic advice when required. Her main areas of work include residential and commercial sale and purchase, residential and commercial developments, land acquisitions and disposals, landlord and tenant, trust settlements, wills and probate, retail and corporate banking, negotiating and drafting contra and settlement agreements in a wide range of commercial transactions.

Ms. Annie Chin En Foh

Annie was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court in Sabah & Sarawak in 2010 and joined the firm in 2012, after having practised with two established law firms in Kuala Lumpur for an active five years.

Whilst in Kuala Lumpur, Annie has extensive experience assisting Malaysia and internationally based purchasers and vendors in various residential and commercial property transactions, including land acquisitions and disposals, sale and purchase, landlord and tenant, investment, development, real estate financing and due diligence on corporate transactions. On top of her wealth of conveyancing practice experience, she has also had experience in corporate finance work, advising various companies and financial institutions on conventional and Islamic banking and finance and debt capital market transactions.

Since joining the firm, Annie is involved in all aspects of conveyancing and banking work for individual clients, investors, developers, and banks within the legal framework of Sarawak.

Ms. Law Hui Hui

Hui Hui joined the firm in 2017 upon successful completion of pupillage at the firm, and was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Sabah & Sarawak in Sarawak in 2017.

During her training and since her joining the firm, Hui Hui has been assisting in all aspects of the department’s work, encompassing a wide range of general conveyancing and private client matters, which include preparation of sale and purchase agreement (both residential and commercial property), loan documentations, encumbrances and wills and probate. On top of her real estate practice portfolio, she also regularly drafts various types of commercial contracts.

Litigation

Mr. Yong Sie Mee

Head of Department

Upon graduating with a First Class Honours in the Bachelor of Arts-Political Science Degree from University of New Brunswick, Canada, Mr. Yong decided to pursue law subsequently as a career and graduated from the University of Buckingham, England, U.K.

Mr. Yong has had more than 20 years of experience as an advocate, representing a range of clients involved in substantial and complex disputes which are resolved with or without resort to litigation and/or other ADR.  His heavyweight commercial practice includes the specific areas detailed below: Contractual disputes; Building Construction dispute claims; Family law and Succession; Native Customary Rights Claims, Admiralty; Landlord and Tenant; Banking and Personal Injuries. In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Yong is also represent parties in arbitration proceedings. In 2014 he was appointed by the Kuala Lumpur Regional Center of Arbitration (KLRCA) as an adjudicator pursuant to CIPAA (Construction Industry Payment Adjudication Act 2012 ) for Malaysia.

Ms. Stella Maria Chin Phui Lian

Stella qualified as an Advocate of the High Court in Sabah and Sarawak in Sarawak in August 1987, and is a partner in litigation. She was previously trained with and practised at Goh & Partners, before it merged and became the firm as it stands today.

Throughout her more than 30 years of litigation practice, Stella’s practice covers a wide range of civil litigation issues, which include breach of commercial/construction contracts and general corporate law. Stella has represented private individuals and corporate clients in a large number of notable cases over the years. She has had experience in various proceedings at all levels of courts in Malaysia, and currently specialises in the drafting of cause papers for various interlocutory applications under the Rules of Court 2012. Apart from her busy paper practice, she regularly works on pre-action advisory work across a wide range of matters.

Ms. Liew Sheau Kie

Sheau Kie was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in the year 2010 and as an Advocate of the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak in 2011, and she joined the firm in 2013.

Sheau Kie’s practice background centres on contractual disputes and debt recovery. She appears regularly in Sessions Court and High Court on matters within these practice areas. Sheau Kie is able to assist at an early stage of proceedings by providing written or oral advice and drafting various cause papers, as well as trial process up to obtaining judgment.

Mr. Peter Hii Din Chiang

Peter joined the firm in 2012 after being admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2011 and as an Advocate of the High Court in Sabah and Sarawak in the same year.

Peter’s practice encompasses the major areas of the firm’s litigation work which includes (but not limited to) native customary right claims, employment disputes, commercial litigation and debt recovery. He is able to advise on the rules and procedures involved in debt recovery process, and is regularly instructed to act for and represent companies to appear in all levels of court for interlocutory hearings as well as at trial. Peter is also often involved in pre-action advisory work and maintains a busy paper practice.

Ms. Melvina Fam Jui Yeang

Melvina joined the firm’s litigation practice in 2017, after having been admitted as an Advocate of the High Court in Sabah & Sarawak in Sarawak in the same year.

Prior to joining the firm, Melvina was practising at one of the most established law firms in Kuala Lumpur. Her past portfolio includes prosecution of trade marks, development of intellectual property management policies and frameworks, regulatory compliance work and reviewing and drafting licensing and distribution agreements.

Currently, she is gaining experience and exposure in a wide range of litigation works that the department handles. To date, she has had relevant experience in dealing with contractual and tortious claims, debt recovery matters, industrial disputes and also drafting of various cause papers in relation to main suits and interlocutory court applications.
