Russell holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree from the University of Reading, United Kingdom, and was subsequently admitted as a Barrister-at-Law (Middle Temple). He was then admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak in 2019.
Russell’s legal practice is focused on both Civil and Criminal Litigation, where he has worked on cases involving various areas of the law. His areas of practice include but are not limited to:
- Civil Litigation: contractual disputes, personal injury claims, family law, native customary claims & disputes, construction law, general negligence or professional negligence claims, probate and administration of estate, insurance claims, judicial review, constitutional and administrative law, libel and slander, fraud and criminal breach of trust, employment law and industrial court matters.
- Criminal Litigation: cases of murder, arson, rape, sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual offences against children, assault or battery, possession, consumption or trafficking of drugs, theft, cheating, criminal breach of trust, gambling offences and minor offences.
